This last week has been both exhausting and amazing. There is nothing quite like being able to spend unlimited time with family, friends and learning about what inspires you. Again, I am so thankful for the freedom to home school my daughter and teach her what life is truly about.
We've had some unbelievable times with our Grandma & Pappap the Great. They came and spent a few days with us. Along with painting rocks with Grandma, fishing with Pappap, and playing Mexican Train with Dorine we had a well-rounded week along with our usual studies!
We had an awesome 11 hour trip to the Tulsa State Fair that was out of this world!! We had a blast doing EVERYTHING and riding EVERYTHING! Whew! When that was over, we were quite worn out! We've taken this morning to play games, puzzles and make cookies! This afternoon was filled with fun mama school. Who could ever ask for more?
For science we've continued living & non-living. We constructed a living mural, and also discussed taking care of pets.
For history/geography this month we are studying The United States of America. We made our own American Flag which we hung in our school room, and we are learning the pledge. We spoke about our country, and where it is located. We've also traced a map of the U.S.
For reading/phonics we are learning about the 2 vowel rules, and diving into some new readers. We're taking plenty of time with these new rules before starting our next bit of curriculum. We've finished The Boxcar Children #5, and started #6. I'm loving these!!
For math we've played lots of number/money games! Along with a worksheet or two, there is nothing better than sitting down to a good game that teaches math in disguise!! We do this daily. Our Papa got BabyGirl an abacus which she adores, and loves to use to work math problems! She asked me today to make her a number problem worksheet so she could work them out on her own.
So, that pretty much catches us up til now....here's to another fun-filled, but more low-key week. (Yay) Until next time....
