Where does the time go? Two years ago while I was anxiously awaiting your arrival I had no idea the impact you would have on my life......
Each and every day I am thankful that you chose me to be your mommy. Just like your sister, you are teaching me so many things. I know I will be a better mother, wife, friend and human being because you are my son. Even just saying the word "son" brings tears to my eyes and joy into my heart. You are a song I could listen to every day for the rest of my life. You are the first ray of sunshine after a long and cloudy day. You make it easier for me to reach deep within myself and find the woman that I know I am meant to be. You are a precious gift that I will never take for granted.
There are so many traits that you posses that I admire. Just to name a few....your strength, your humor, your understanding, your tenacity, your ability to take risks, your love, your passion for everything, your beauty and your wisdom.
Here is a look at how big you are getting, and how amazing your personality is....
You have always known the power possessed by a good cookie!
This picture displays some of your most treasured things: your cowboy hat, your OSU Bubba shirt, your vroom vroom boom boom blankie, and the beloved blue lolly.
You adore the outdoors. You will go out and play in any kind of weather without complaint, and especially love hiking on our sandstone.
You ride this rocking horse like a true cowboy! If I don't hold onto the tail, you'll go straight over! Now, that is something I never experienced as a mother until you came along!
You love hats of all kinds!! The funkier, the better! Here is your Oscar hat from your Sesame collection. You'd wear this on a hot day if we'd let you!
You love to play with play-doh! One of your favorite things to do is give your Caillou a haircut!
You are such a little comedian!! You always get this look on your face...then, you run to get your cowboy hat and your Mr. Potato Head glasses.....here is the result!
You have so much fun doing art with Sissy. How lucky I am to have two wonderful children! You guys made some hearts all by yourselves....and BabyGirl saw this picture opportunity she couldn't resist! I didn't even know she took this until I downloaded my pics. Precious.
Here you are testing our your new T-ball equipment in the living room!
You never miss an opportunity to pose....OR an opportunity to lick a chocolate beater!!
You jump at the chance to get anyone and everyone under the table with you to play "Hoo Hoo's" (puppies). Especially a Nan!
Here you are blowing out the candles on your "Achoo" cake. (Snuffy)
I baked you a home made yellow cake with chocolate ganache and coconut cream frosting. Your Daddy iced the cake and free handed the Snuffy. :) It was served on the special Happy Birthday rotating plate Mee-Maw the Great sent you. If you wind it up a music box plays Happy Birthday as it rotates. It was so special, just like she was right here celebrating with us.
You are such a natural with tools of all sorts. The minute you got your new tool belt, you put it on and went right to work!
As long as you have lived, you have admired your Bubs. If you hear they are coming over you yell "yay"!!
You are my special little guy. You have stolen my heart, and I love you with all I am.
The one thing I will miss the most as you grow this next year will have to be your little voice, and all the little names you have for everything. Here are some names you have for animals: cat-mow mow, dog- hoo hoo, elephant-achoo, horse-neigh neigh, cow-moo moo, pig-the cutest oink you've ever heard, monkey-oooh oooh aaah aaah, duck-cuk cuk, lion-roooooooooooooooooar, any insect- zzzzz zzzzz (this even works for spider webs or cotton balls). You have a new Baltic amber necklace we made you when you started cutting your 2 year molars...you lovingly call it your "yellow hockey". Your winter hats are "boom boom hats" while your sun hat is "boo hat". I remember the day you went from calling your boots "boops" to "boots" like it was yesterday. You love to ask for hot tea, hot cocoa or coconut milk. They all sound completely adorable. You call any OSU or football shirt your "bubbas", and ask to wear them every single day. I'm sure after I post this I will think of dozens more little sayings...but these are the ones most on my mind right now.
One thing I hope will never change....that is your soul. I hope to write a blog post twenty years from now and say the same exact things about you then that I did at the beginning of this post. If I do my job as your mommy properly, that's exactly what will happen. I look forward to every single moment we spend together.....teaching you, playing with you, learning from you...... I will not say I can't wait for what the future brings. That would be a lie. I want to savor every single second of right now. I want to drink in every bit of my baby boy, breathe you into my soul, and treasure your childhood while I have it. I won't take one moment for granted. Looking at your Sissy I can see life happens in the blink of an eye. Thank the heavens for your Daddy who works his tail off to make sure we can all stay home together and preserve the innocence that is our life.
Looking back........
my tiny baby boy...
my chubby little guy
My Little Man is taking shape....
One year ago...starting to take those first steps
you are just as gorgeous as the spring flowers...
And,that brings us to today. I know we have some fantastic moments that lie ahead of us...and I will hold your hand each step of the way. Happy Birthday, Little Man. I love you more than anything.
Love, Your Mommy.
P.S. Here is a small video of you saying "hot cocoa". I will treasure it forever. (you'll need to pause the music in order to listen) :)
